Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
Why is Pathway involved in another stewardship campaign?
This campaign gives us the opportunity to challenge one another to prayerfully consider our involvement in the commitment of our treasures. The finances committed will enable us to reduce the debt on our campus and, at the same time, invest in the life-changing ministry in North-west Allen County.
When and where will the commitments be made?
Most commitments will be made on Commitment Sunday, March 9, 2008, during our church services; however, leaders will give theirs to Dave Parish on or before February 24, 2008.
What is expected of my family in making a financial commitment?
Every family is being asked to pray about its commitment. No one will be pressured. Nothing will be published. As a body of believers we want all to pray about what they believe God would want to do through them. If God owns everything and we are simply managers, then we believe that God will provide everything we need to effectively do His work.
Will I be asked to commit publicly?
Absolutely not! Your commitment is a private matter between you and God. We will not make these commitments a matter of public knowledge in any way, shape, or form.
How much money are we trusting the Lord to supply in this campaign?
We are setting a faith goal of $3,200,000. The allocation of these funds are as follows:
Bucket #1…Debt reduction of $2,500,000
Bucket #2…Completion of current facilities of $------
Bucket #3…Construction of soccer fields, playground, additional entrance $----
Bucket #4….Local and International Missions $----
Is there a certain amount of money that I will be expected to commit to our stewardship program?
No. After asking God for guidance in the decision, each person will decide his particular commitment. The goal is not equal gifts but equal sacrifice.
Can I choose which bucket to give my pledge?
We have prioritized the buckets based prayerful consideration and guidance. We are asking you to be faithful to the entire project.
May I give assets other than cash?
Yes. There may be tremendous tax advantages to giving assets other than cash. Any member of the Creative Giving Team will be happy to discuss this with you, or you may choose to consult with your personal tax advisor.
Why do I have to make my commitment in writing?
The total amount of commitments are carefully analyzed to forecast future income and to establish a realistic debt payback schedule and ministry budget for the buckets described above.
How long is the campaign and do I have the flexibility in making my financial commitment?
The campaign is over the next three years. There are three general categories under which you can make the commitment. Immediate gifts from accumulated cash.
Regular weekly or monthly gifts of a designated amount over 3 years. Non-cash assets such as property, stocks, bonds, etc.
How will commitments be received?
Your financial commitment will be placed in a sealed envelope so that the confidentiality of your commitment can be maintained.
When do commitments begin?
We anticipate the commitments beginning on Celebration Sunday, March 23, 2008. Of course we recognize that not everyone receives a weekly paycheck, therefore you may begin honoring you commitment at the time you designate in accordance with your income schedule.
Can I divide my present giving between the General Budget and the Capital Campaign?
We strongly you to make your commitment “over and above” any other giving to our church. The present ministries and missions that we have implemented and support also need to be funded.
Will I have the opportunity to revise my commitment?
Certainly, since this is a commitment between you and the Lord, you have opportunity to revise you commitment. It would be helpful if changes could be communicated in a written manner so church leadership can reflect your decision.
My primary interest is to see Pathway quickly reduce our church debt. Can I designate 100% of my commitment to be applied totally to debt reduction?
Absolutely. There will be a provision on your Making Ripples commitment form to designate your entire gift strictly to debt reduction.
